What is a Roof Soffit?

A roof soffit covers and protects exposed ends of the rafters, fitting between edge of the roofline and the external wall of the property. If your home includes a soffit, which some roofs do not, it can usually be seen by standing beneath the roof overhang and looking upwards.

Today, most soffits are manufactured from uPVC. uPVC soffits and fascias are durable, low maintenance, and resistant to damp and weather damage. Timber soffits remain a favoured option for period or traditional buildings, however they are prone to rot and decay over time, which can compromise the roof structure.

Roof soffits and fascias play an important role as they protect lower sections of roof rafters from harsh weather and pests, helping extend their lifespan while reducing repair and insurance costs.
